Katrina East Silver Medallist in cycling event

Year 11 Bairnsdale Secondary College student, Katrina East, finished second in the Under 19 Womens section of the 2010 Victorian Schools Cycling Championships at Geelong on Saturday 2 October 2010 after an exciting dual sprint finish against Toni Abbisogni,  Bendigo South East College. 

Katrina qualified through the South Metro Zone. Her race knowledge of the track paid off as she had spent time on two sessions riding the tight and twisty layout. The attacks were on right from the start of the race. By lap 5 of 9 there was only Katrina and Toni Abbisogni from Bendigo. Both girls worked together until near the last corner when Toni attacked to beat Katrina with Stacy Hocking from Warrnambool 3rd.
