Subzero visits Bairnsdale Secondary College
On the 8th September 2010 the Champion Melbourne Cup Winner of 1992 came to visit the Equine Studies students. Subzero, or “Subbie”, as he is affectionately known is a grey thoroughbred gelding who has won a place in racing history by winning the Melbourne Cup and many other races. For many years after his retirement he was a “Clerk of the Course” at Flemington and was one of the official horses used to keep the competing horses calm. Before meeting Subzero, the students watched a very informative presentation on the career opportunities available to them in the Equine Industry. These include being a strapper, breeder, farrier, horse chiropractor, jockey or veterinary nurse.
