Wilsons Promontory Excursion

Wilsons Promontory 3 Day Bushwalk

On the 8th of September the 459 Outdoor Education group set off bright and early to embark on a 3 day journey around Wilsons Promontory. We arrived at Telegraph Saddle Carpark and after emptying out some unnecessary items from students packs we set off to our first night destination of Sealers Cove. At the beginning the students seemed to think it was some kind of race but then gradually learnt to appreciate all the natural wonders of Wilsons Promontory. Once out in the National Park the students took charge and took it in turns to lead and navigate the group. We were greeted at Sealers Cove by a beautiful view and couple of whales in the Bay.

The night consisted of cooking up a feast and endless joke telling. Although rain fell during the night this did not dampen the groups spirits and after packing up we set off in wonderful conditions for Little Waterloo Bay. Lunch was eaten at Kersops Peak which had amazing 360 degree views of the Prom. Little Waterloo Bay was situated next to a wonderful beach which provided perfect grounds for some night games. Again we woke to rain on the last morning but it cleared as students powered the 13km home in under 4 hours.

After arriving back at school the group felt like they had achieved a great deal in the last 3 days and should be congratulated for their efforts. Lots of skills and practices learnt in class were used including camping and cooking skills, minimal impact strategies and teamwork. Thank you to all students on the trip for making it a wonderful experience.
