Within our Victorian education system, all schools are required to prepare student reports twice per year. However at Bairnsdale Secondary College we believe that these reports constitute an important means of communicating with parents and so we prepare reports four times per year.

Two of these reports are interim reports which are prepared at the end of terms 1 and 3 while more comprehensive reports detailing all aspects of a student's performance are prepared at the end of terms 2 and 4.

All reports contain details of student attendance and this is important not only because of the strong nexus between attendance and educational attainment but also because of the requirement to have 90% approved attendance as a part of the satisfactory completion requirements for each unit.

By now parents will be aware that we are not permitted to run our normal program of parent / teacher interviews this year and this has proved problematic for parents, teachers and students alike. It is thus more important than ever before that parents scrutinise our new reports carefully.

Where parents require additional information about a particular subject they should contact the college and seek an appointment with the teacher concerned. However where a parent requires information about the overall progress of a student or about their progress across a range of subjects the House Coordinator (Senior) or House Leader (Junior) will be the first point of contact.
