Senior Boys Gippsland Hockey Finals
Bairnsdale Secondary College Senior Boys Hockey team played the Gippsland final on Monday August 2
Leaving Bairnsdale in the pouring rain we travelled to Bellbird Park, Drouin, to be greeted by warm sunshine but not another hockey player in sight. Thirty minutes later we were joined by a lone umpire whom assured us that our opposition would be arriving soon. An hour after we had arrived, the Warragul Secondary College team arrived and were soon ready to play. Both teams played very competitively on the new turf (such a luxury after last years lush paddocks ) with Bairnsdale winning the game 4 - 2. Bairnsdale played a solid team game with lots of encouragement from fellow team members and coach, Rachel.
This team will now travel to Melbourne to contest the State Finals on August 31st. Well done and best of luck in the finals.
